Acapulco/Mexiko earthquake measured by KSS32-M Gravitymeter stationed in Germany

The heavy earthquake that took place in Mexico at 2021-09-08 01:47:47 (UTC) (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000f93v/executive) could also be measured by a KSS32 Marine Gravitymeter stationed in the BGGS facility in Meersburg, 10.000 kilometers away:

The measurement of the sensor GSS32 that is used in the KSS system is based on the unit mgal. The plot above shows how the unfiltered raw data clearly shows the earthquake’s characteristic shocks.

As a reference: the following chart has been measured by a seismological station in Schiltach/Southern Germany (source: Black Forest Observatory Data. GFZ Data Services, https://doi.org/10.5880/BFO)

At BGGS, several Gravitymeters are continuously measuring. If you are interested in details, please do not hesitate to contact us.
